The Anaesthetic Nursing Service in Musgrave Park Hospital was delighted to receive funding from the MITRE Trust for the purchase of the Sherlock 3CG. The Specialist Anaesthetic nursing team has been placing PICC lines on the Musgrave Park Hospital site since 2003 for patients requiring long-term antibiotic therapy. The use of this new technology means patients no longer require the need for an x-ray to check PICC tip position. This new equipment contributes to the continuing development of the PICC service offered within Musgrave Park Hospital and will greatly enhance the level of care provided to patients in the future.
