‘Simple Up’ is a motorised hydraulic platform. The purpose of this specialist equipment is to make weight-bearing x-rays of the knees, feet, and ankles easier. The hydraulic platform also provides quality care when facilitating weight bearing x-rays of patients with poor mobility. There is an increase in demand for x-rays to be carried out with the patient standing. Before this, to get the same x-ray, patients would have needed to climb up on to steps. Some patients found this quite difficult due to their condition and mobility. The ‘Simple Up’ hydraulic platform has a wide stable base and safety handles. This helps the patient feel secure, safe, and steady while producing standing x-rays. An added benefit for staff is that the use of this equipment now reduces the need for stooping and bending while carrying out these standing x-rays.
All the staff in the x-ray department in Musgrave Park Hospital are grateful to MITRE for purchasing the ‘Simple Up’ platform. Since its purchase, they have found the platform has improved patient experience. Patients who have used the ‘Simple Up’ platform have expressed how safe and secure they felt during their x-rays.
